Sailing Report

A flying start

The first cross channel race of the season was marred by losing two team members due to illness and work but a young Austrain sailor, Felix, joined us at short notice and brought good sail trimming skills to the team.
On the Good Friday race to Cherbourg we made a minor sail plan mistake in light air which cost us time and crucially meant we had to go further west at Cherbourg to allow for a change in the tide. We finished 5th in Class.
After a good meal out in Cherbourg, we came together well as a team for the Sunday race back to Cowes completeing the 78 NM course in just under 9.5 hrs to take 3rd place. The finish up the Solent saw us tacking in up to 28kts apparent and the new No 3 served us well.
One place left for the both of the May Bank Holiday weekends.
