Annual Charity

Each year we support a Charity.

For 2012 the main charity will be ‘Water for Kids’ and Stuart (shelf) Walker one of our race team is running a thousand miles in the Alps to raise money for them. you can follow his progress starting 12th May on www.bigalpsrun.eu

Normally we do this by giving a weekends skippered Charter away to be sold for the Charity. This year it is St Margaret’s Hospice and we have raised £1000 so far. Sometimes our racing team also chips in.
In 2009 we helped Stuart Walker with his fund raising efforts for NSPCC, Avert Aids and Water for Kids. He raised about £6000 in total for them.
In 2010 we assisted Watchett Sea Scouts and Bishops Lydeard AFC

We had 4 trips introducing 15 Scouts and 4 Leaders to sailing a 40′ yacht and 5 completed their Competent Crew. I have been impressed by the enthusiam of the Scouts, by the amount of food they can eat (unfortunately in some cases far too many sweets) and by the patience of the leaders.

In 2011 we supported the Sea Scouts again, Dene Barton Community Hospital, Bishops Lydeard AFC plus our Fastnet team donated £500 to sail 4 cancer as part of a fund raising effort by Jon Burgess another team member
